Feline Heart with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Model

This detailed anatomical model of a feline heart illustrates the structural changes associated with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), one of the most common cardiac diseases in cats. A HCM heart is roughly 3x-4x larger than the healthy feline heart. The model clearly demonstrates the abnormal thickening of the left ventricular wall, reducing chamber capacity and restricting the heart’s ability to efficiently pump blood.
In addition to ventricular thickening, the model highlights fibrosis within the left ventricle and thrombosis within the left atrium. Fibrosis represents the development of scar-like tissue that stiffens the heart muscle, impairing its ability to relax and fill properly. Thrombosis refers to the formation of a blood clot caused by abnormal blood flow and pooling within the heart, a serious complication that can lead to life-threatening events.
Carefully hand-painted and mounted on a display base, this model serves as an effective visual aid for veterinary education, clinical training, and pet owner communication. A full-color education card is included to assist in identifying key anatomical structures and pathological features.
